Sleepy Time
Today Victor ate his first hospital meal at about noon: mashed potatoes, gravy, applesauce and apple cider. Although he didn't eat much, it must have been very satisfying because he fell asleep in the middle of the meal.
Victor was moved out of the ICU last night and has shown great improvement. He's doing more little things on his own.

Today you sat up in a chair to watch TV, went for a couple of spins around the floor in a wheelchair (you even operated the chair yourself!), and worked at feeding yourself. And you beat Dad at tic-tac-toe. It's great to watch you make progress. It might seem slow to you but it's fantastic to us. Every once in a while you jump to a new plateau and we say, "That is SO Victor!" We love you, Vic!

Crazy day and night last night. You had a lot of visitors yesterday, a bit overwhelming for you, as you get pretty emotional everytime someone close to you came in and shared a moment or two with you. I see this as a good sign, I know you feel weak and overwhelmed, like this is too much to handle. It isn't, you can do this, and we are all here to help you through this, we love you very much. This isn;t going to be easy, for any of us, this is new territory for all of us, never have we walked this path before, we really don't know what to expect or what to do next, or prepare for, but we're here and in it together. none us has the strength to face this alone, thats why we're all a family and a community...the old saying it takes a whole village to raise a child to become a man. Thankfully we've got alot of villagers on our side! :-)
ReplyDeleteI was very moved last night by you almost more than I felt I could take, amazing the emotion the heart has.
I know you like the Pineapple-Bannana shake I brought better than the hospital food, but keep trying to eat, I'll bring you a Peanut Butter protien shake today! Love you
You are doing sooooooo amazing. Hang in there. We are thinking of you always. See you soon.

Joe and I came to see you at lunch today and you look great. You were a little restless I'm sure it's hard for you to stay in bed most of the day and you want to get out and move around. With the way you are progressing I'm sure you will be there soon. sounds like you will have more freedom when you move to the rehab unit which will be nice. Thanks for teaching me your handshake. Hang in there you are doing great and we are all very proud of you.
