A Day of Prayer

Victor's condition remains basically the same. Although his ICP is below 20 now, he is still in critical condition. The goal was to keep his ICP below 20 durning the first 72-96 hours after the accident. The severity of the injuries made this very difficult. There were extended periods of time when the readings exceeded 40 which is way too high.

The next step seems simple enough: wait for the swelling to subside to a point where he can be taken off the medications. This time frame is unknown, however the doctors seem to agree that it will be at least weeks before we see this. Victor's body needs time to heal and we need to allow him that time.

Generally speaking, he is much better. Most of the swelling has subsided. He has a low temperature fever, which is not unusual for his condition. We cautiously move forward with renewed hope. We send our love and appreciation for all the prayers and support.

We know that God loves Victor and that he has a plan for him. God has placed a blessing upon him and continues to bless him every minute. We reverently accept his blessings and thank him dearly for another day with Victor.

We love you Victor. Keep fighting.

  1. Sending more prayers and love. Another day--how often do we take that for granted? We continue to pray you'll have many, many more days with Victor.

  2. This morning my thoughts and prayers are with you Victor. I read Elder Holland's talk,"The Ministry of Angels". He say's "God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face." As you sleep I hope you feel the love and presence of both the heavenly angels and earthly angels that gather round your bed. We love you Victor.

  3. Victor, you just had your best 24 hours since the accident and we are SO happy! We thought there would be a lot more answers by now but this is a lesson in patience for all of us. You especially. You have it in you to overcome this and we'll be your biggest fans and cheerleaders while you do the hard work of mending. GREAT job! We love you!

  5. Victor, It is great that your ICP has been staying down. I think it helps for us to be able to talk to you without causing you harm. I dreamt last night that you opened your eyes and looked at your mom and I. Do you want to make that a reality? You are being so strong! love Christine and family

  11. Sitting down the hall from Vic these lyrics to a 3 Doors Down song played in my head and heavily in my heart.
    My thoughts and Prayers Vic

Looking back at the beginning of this
    And how life was
Just you and me loving all of our friends
    Living life like an ocean
But now the current's only pulling me down
    It’s getting harder too breath
It won’t be to long and I will be going under
Can you save me from this?

Cause it’s not my time I'm not going
There's a fear in me it’s not showing
This could be the end of me
    And everything I know
    Oh but I won’t go

I look ahead to all the plans that we made
And the dreams that we had
I'm in a world that tries to take them away
Oh but I'm taking them back
Cause all of this time I've just been too blind to understand
    What should matter to me
My friends this life we live, it’s not what we have
    It’s what we believe in

Cause it’s not my time I'm not going
There's a fear in me but it’s not showing
This could be the end of me
    And everything I know
But it’s not my time I'm not going
There's a will in me and now I know that
This could be the end of me
    And everything I know
    Oh but I won’t go
    I won’t go

There might be more than you believe
(There might be more than you believe)
There might be more than you can see

But it’s not my time I'm not going
There's a fear in me it’s not showing
This could be the end of me
    And everything I know
But it’s not my time I'm not going
There's a will in me and now it’s gonna show
This could be the end of me
    And everything I know
    Oh

There might be more than you believe
(There might be more than you believe)
There might be more than you can see

    But I won’t go
    No I won’t go down

  12. It's 7:30 tuesday morning, the nurses and Dr's are changing shifts so you're off limits for another hour or so.
The increased your paralytics this morning after your ICP's rose again this early am when they changed your linens, gave you a bath, and adjusted you a bit to keep circulation good and prevent bed sores.
Heath did a great job with you tonight. Thank you for the time and conversation, the honesty and sincerety is truly appreciated.
They are going to see if they can get your ICP's down this am and get you stabilized again so they can take you completely off the paralytics. This will give them a opportunity to do a good neuro eval of your condition.
Hang in there, don't give up the fight Vic.

  13. My prayers are with you and your family everyday. I continue to go see you and your family everyday. Heres a summary of how your family is doing:

Your mom is very strong, she stays by your side, looks at you and gives me this questionable smile. I can see it in her eyes, shes fighting every second you are there.

Mike, he is a very strong man, he is definitely keeping your family going. His love for you is unconditional.

Melissa. . . you are one lucky boy to have her as your sister. Shes fighting for you, all she wants to do is keep all the bad away, come back to her.

Roman, he misses you terribly. His bright smile that lights up the room the minute he walks in is barely shining. He has given you all his hope, fight and light until you are awake again. He needs you.

Eli is keeping everyones spirits up, he continues to joke, laugh and smile which is helping everyone there.

The rest of your family, extended family and friends are here and praying. We love you lots. Ms Yvette
